Beakn Smart Home Manual

What it does

Once linked through the Alexa skill, every Beakn switch can be controlled by voice from any Echo device. You can turn things ON/OFF, set fan speed, and dim lights.

Where it works

Echo Dot, Echo, Echo Show, Echo Studio, Echo Pop, Fire TV, and the Alexa app on your phone.

How to use it

1. Link the Beakn skill in the Alexa app.
2. Speak, for example:

• "Alexa, turn on the bedroom light."
• "Alexa, set the fan to speed 3."
• "Alexa, dim the living room to 40%."
• "Alexa, turn off all lights."

Real-life example

• Watching TV on the sofa, you say "Alexa, dim the living room to 40%" and the room softens — without getting up.

What it does

You can put your Beakn switches into a room group (like "Living Room"). Then one command controls the whole group. Even better, if an Echo is placed in that room, you don't have to name the room at all.

How to set it up

1. In the Alexa app, create a room group (for example, Living Room).
2. Add your Beakn hall lights, fan, and LED strip to it.
3. Assign your Echo device to that room.

How to use it

• "Alexa, turn off the living room" → everything in that group turns off.
• Speaking to the bedroom Echo, just say "Alexa, turn off the lights" → it turns off only the bedroom lights, because the Echo knows which room it is in.

Real-life example

• You keep an Echo Dot in each room. In the bedroom you simply say "Alexa, turn off the lights" — no need to say "bedroom." It understands from the room the Echo is in.

What it does

An Alexa routine joins many steps into one. It can be started by a voice phrase, a set time, an alarm being switched off, a sensor noticing motion, your phone arriving/leaving, or an Echo button press. It can even wait between steps.

How to set it up

1. Open the Alexa app → Routines.
2. Tap + to create a new routine.
3. Set When this happens (the trigger).
4. Add your Beakn switch actions and any Alexa actions (weather, music, and so on).
5. To add a pause, use a Wait action between steps.
6. Save.

Real-life examples

• "Alexa, good morning" → kitchen light ON, geyser ON, today's weather read out, morning playlist starts, bedroom fan to speed 2.
• "Alexa, good night" → all lights OFF, bedroom AC to 24°C, fan to speed 1, smart lock locked, sleep sounds for 30 minutes.
• A routine that turns the geyser ON, waits 20 minutes, then turns it OFF — fully automatic.

What it does

An Alexa routine can run at a fixed time on chosen days, with no voice command at all.

How to set it up

1. Open the Alexa app → Routines.
2. Create a routine and set the trigger to Schedule (for example, 6:30 AM on weekdays).
3. Add your Beakn switch actions.
4. Save.

Real-life example

• On weekdays at 6:30 AM, the geyser turns ON, the kitchen light comes on, and Alexa reads the weather. On weekends you set a separate 8:00 AM routine, so you wake up later.

What it does

When you switch off your Alexa alarm in the morning, a routine fires and your home gets ready. The big benefit: it runs at the real moment you wake up, not a fixed clock time.

How to set it up

1. Open the Alexa app → Routines.
2. Set When this happens → Alarm → Is Dismissed.
3. Add Beakn actions: bedroom light ON at 40%, geyser ON, kitchen light ON, curtains open.
4. Save.

Real-life example

• You set an alarm for 6:30 AM but snooze until 6:45. When you finally say "Alexa, stop," the geyser and lights come on at 6:45 — exactly when you actually get up.

What it does

Using your phone's location, Alexa can run a routine when you enter or leave an area around your home.

How to set it up

1. In the Alexa app, turn on location permission.
2. Create a routine with Location as the trigger.
3. Set the actions:

• When I leave home → turn OFF all Beakn switches, set AC to energy-saving.
• When I arrive home after 6 PM → turn ON foyer lights, living room lights, and AC.

1. Adjust the area size (radius) to avoid false triggers.

Real-life example

• In an apartment, you set a tight radius so the parking lot doesn't trigger it. As you actually reach home in the evening, the foyer and living room lights switch on to welcome you.

What it does

The Echo Show (5, 8, 10, and 15-inch models) shows your devices as tiles on a screen. Every Beakn switch appears — tap to toggle, swipe to see other rooms, and see at a glance what is ON or OFF.

How to use it

1. Set up the Echo Show and link it to the same Alexa account as your Beakn switches.
2. Tap a switch tile to control it, or swipe between rooms.
3. Or just speak to it.

Real-life examples

• An Echo Show 15 on the kitchen wall becomes a family control centre — clock, calendar, weather, and every Beakn switch. Anyone walking past can tap to adjust the home.
• An Echo Show 5 on the bedside table works as an alarm clock and a bedroom switch controller — tap to dim the lights without a word.

What it does

When you are away, Alexa Guard uses the Echo's microphone to listen for certain sounds — glass breaking, smoke alarms, and carbon monoxide alarms — and alerts your phone.

How to set it up

1. In the Alexa app, set up Alexa Guard and turn it on (Away mode) when you leave.
2. Optionally, create a routine so that if Guard detects something, it turns ON all lights and sends an alert.

Good to know

This pairs well with Beakn's own Home Lock: Guard listens for break-in sounds, while Home Lock watches for manual switch operation. Together they give layered awareness without cameras.

Real-life example

• While you are at work, Alexa Guard hears glass break and alerts your phone. A linked routine turns on all the lights to scare off any intruder and activates Beakn's lock mode.

What it does

An Echo Dot costs about ₹4,499. Put one in each main room and the whole home gets voice control for every Beakn switch.

How to use it

1. Place an Echo Dot in a room (shelf or bedside).
2. Link it to your Alexa account.
3. Speak: "Alexa, turn off the bedroom light."

Real-life example

• In a 3BHK, three or four Echo Dots cover every room for under ₹18,000. Your elderly parents don't need a smartphone or app — they just say "Alexa, turn off the bedroom light" and it happens.

What it does

You can send a voice message to every Echo in the house at once, combine it with Beakn actions, and even start a two-way intercom (Drop-In) with another room's Echo.

How to use it

1. To announce: "Alexa, announce that dinner is ready." Every Echo plays it.
2. To combine with switches, build a routine: "Alexa, dinner time" → announce "Dinner is ready" + dining lights ON + living room TV OFF + kids' room switches OFF.
3. For two-way talk: "Alexa, drop in on the bedroom."

Real-life example

• At dinner time you say one phrase: the whole house hears "Dinner is ready," the dining lights come on, and the TV switches off — no shouting between floors.

What it does

If you have a Fire TV Stick or Fire TV Cube, Alexa is built in. You can control Beakn switches using the TV remote's voice button, and see switch tiles on the TV screen.

How to use it

1. Make sure Beakn is linked to Alexa.
2. Press the voice button on the Fire TV remote and say "Turn off the bedroom lights."
3. Or open the smart home section in the Fire TV menu and toggle switches on screen.

Real-life example

• You're watching a film and want the bedroom lights off. You press the Fire TV remote's voice button and say it — no need to pick up your phone.

What it does

If you whisper to Alexa, she whispers back — and still does the action. This is perfect for late nights when someone is sleeping.

How to set it up

1. In Alexa settings, turn on Whisper Mode.
2. From then on, when you whisper, Alexa matches your low volume.

Real-life example

• It's midnight and your spouse is asleep. You whisper "Alexa, turn off the bathroom light," and it goes off quietly — no loud command waking anyone.

What it does

Over time, Alexa learns your patterns. If you always turn off the kitchen light at 11 PM and one night you forget, Alexa notices and can remind you — or even turn it off for you.

How to set it up

1. In the Alexa app, enable Hunches.
2. Optionally turn on Auto Hunches, so Alexa acts without asking.

Real-life example

• One night you forget the kitchen light. Alexa says, "It looks like you forgot to turn off the kitchen light. Would you like me to turn it off?" You say yes — or, with Auto Hunches on, it just switches off by itself.

You can play music on Echo devices in every room at once, and pair it with Beakn lighting in a routine — for instant party or relaxation moods.

How to set it up

1. In the Alexa app, group your Echo devices for multi-room music.
2. Build a routine that plays music and sets your Beakn lights.

• "Alexa, party mode" → Bollywood playlist on all Echos + all lights to 40% + LED strips ON + bright overhead lights OFF.
• "Alexa, relaxation mode" → soft sounds on the bedroom Echo + bedroom lights to 15% + fan to speed 1 + other rooms OFF.
