Beakn Smart Home Manual

What it does

Once your Beakn switches are linked to Google Home, you can control them just by speaking. You can turn things ON or OFF, change the brightness of dimmer lights, and change fan speed — all by voice. No need to open the app or unlock your phone.

Where it works

It works on any device that has Google Assistant: Nest Mini, Nest Hub, Nest Hub Max, Nest Audio, Android phones, Android tablets, Wear OS watches, and even Chromebooks.

How to use it

1. Make sure your Beakn switches are linked in the Google Home app.
2. Just speak, for example:

• "Hey Google, turn on the hall light."
• "Hey Google, set the fan to speed 2."
• "Hey Google, dim the bedroom light to 40%."

Real-life example

• You are cooking with both hands busy. You simply say "Hey Google, turn on the kitchen light" and it switches on — no need to touch anything.

How to set it up

4. Add your Beakn switches as actions, and set what each one should do.
5. Choose a trigger — a voice phrase, a set time, an alarm being switched off, sunrise/sunset, or someone arriving/leaving.
6. Save the routine. It runs every time the trigger happens.

• "Hey Google, good morning" → kitchen light ON, bedroom fan to speed 2, geyser ON, today's weather read out, and your morning playlist starts.

What it does

Google routines can use sunrise or sunset as the trigger. The time adjusts on its own every day, based on your home's location.

How to set it up

1. Open the Google Home app → Automations.
2. Create a routine and choose Sunrise or Sunset as the trigger.
3. Add your Beakn switch actions (and any Google actions you want).
4. Save.

Good to know

You can use this together with Beakn's own sunrise/sunset feature. Beakn handles the switches, and Google can add announcements or music.

What it does

Google Home can tell which family members are home, based on their phones' location. This lets your home act based on whether anyone is in or everyone has left.

How to set it up

1. Make sure all family members have the Google Home app on their phones with location permission turned on.
2. In Automations, create a presence-based routine:

• "When everyone leaves home" → turn OFF all Beakn switches.
• "When the first person arrives home" → turn ON foyer and passage lights.

Good to know

The "everyone left" trigger fires only when the last person's phone leaves. If your spouse is still home, nothing turns off. The more family members linked, the more accurate it becomes.

• The whole family steps out for a function. As the last person's phone leaves the home area, every light and fan switches off by itself — no one has to check.

What it does

Besides rooms, you can make your own custom groups — like "All Fans" or "Outdoor Lights" — and control them all together.

How to set it up

1. Open the Google Home app.
2. Create a new device group and give it a name (for example, All Fans).
3. Add the Beakn switches you want in that group.
4. Save.

Good to know

A switch can be in a room and in a group at the same time. Room commands control by location; group commands control by function.

What it does

The Google Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max are small screens that show your home's status. Every Beakn switch appears as a tile you can tap to turn ON or OFF. It is an always-on dashboard for your counter or bedside table.

How to use it

1. Set up the Nest Hub and link it to the same Google Home as your Beakn switches.
2. On the screen, swipe to see different rooms.
3. Tap any switch tile to control it — or just speak to it.

Real-life example

• A Nest Hub sits on the living room table. Your elderly mother sees the switches on screen and simply taps to turn the fan off — or says "Hey Google, turn off the fan." Screen, voice, and touch all in one device.

What it does

Google Home's automation editor lets you add conditions, so an action only happens when it makes sense. This gives you "if this, and this is true, then do that" logic.

How to set it up

1. Open the Google Home app → Automations.
2. Set a starter (trigger) — for example, Time is 10 PM.
3. Add a condition — for example, Someone is home.
4. Add the action — for example, turn ON the bedroom night lamp, turn OFF all other lights.
